Tyler's Birthday Party

Tyler's 3rd Birthday was a huge success. Thanks to everybody that was able to make it. You all made it so special. There was one big hole though during the evening that none of the little boys that came were able to fill. Kaia, you were very much missed. Tyler asked if you were coming several times. Hopefully, he will be able to see you soon. Most of these pictures were taken by our star photographer Kelly. You can easily tell which ones were taken by me. They don't hold a candle to the ones Kelly took.

Double Coupons @ Kmart

Kmart just started double coupons. I had never been inside the Kmart here in Winona and I went today to see what deals could be found. For the most part, I don't find them to be any cheaper, but with the double coupons I was able to save a lot of money. Here are two of the best deals I got today.
Secret Flawless deodorant for .29/each
Loreal Vive Shampoo/Conditioner for .99/each.
I love saving this much money and it was great bringing a bag home and asking Joel to guess how much I spent. He guessed $15.00 and I was able to say $4.00.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TYLER!

A few pictures of Tyler through the years. I can't believe he's three today. What an incredible little boy. Oops sorry, big boy. He always corrects me when I call him little.

Imagination

Tyler's imagination has really taken off lately. He's become quite the storyteller. His teachers at daycare tell me that he regales them with tales everyday. Here is just one of these stories that he told me today and I wonder where he gets this stuff from. I went to Target this evening with Tyler and on the way there he begins to tell me that he and Lydia (friend from daycare) were in space and they saw a big robot and they hid in their spaceship. The spaceship was out of gas so they couldn't go anywhere, but then they filled it up and they BLASTED off.
Seriously, is this a story that he's heard? Surely, he couldn't make this up. I'm going to ask his teachers if they've read a story about space because we don't have a space story here at home and I just find it hard to believe that he could come up with this all on his own. I can't believe he turns three in just two days. It seems like yesterday that we were welcoming him into the world.

I also wanted to mention that while at Target, I saved a grand total of $16.31 with coupons. I was pretty stoked about this. It was about half off what I would have spent had I not used coupons. The coupon system is working!

Is this a Hat?

Tyler found one of my bras today and thought it was a hat. It also became a big truck's horn at one point. He would pull on the strap and say "Honk, Honk". If he only knew...
He has such an imagination on him. The other day at dinner, he patted all his beans together and said he was making pancakes, those then turned into cupcakes. The good news is he actually ate it and was like"mmm, cupcakes". Hey, whatever gets you to eat.
We had his three year checkup this past week. His doctor always comments on his sparkly eyes. Ty's eyes are one of my favorite features of his. She then asked him old he was. He started to say two, then he stopped himself and said. "I most three." I think that kind of suprised her, it suprised me because I didn't think he knew that. She then said that's right, you have a birthday coming up. What do you want for your birthday. His response, I could anticipate. "Soccer" He's obsessed with sports.

I'm MAD at you!

This is what Tyler told us tonight at dinner.
"I'm mad at you because you told me I had to go into timeout."
I had given him an ultimatum. He didn't actually end up in timeout but it was close. He didn't want to eat dinner and he was in general being pretty rude. So I gave him the choice, he could sit down at the table nicely or he could sit in timeout. He had to the count of three to make that choice or I would make it for him. I can sound so tough sometimes. I got to one and he was at the table. A few minutes after I got him in the chair, was when he told us he was mad at us. He included Daddy in his anger too. A few minutes after this he told us he wasn't mad anymore. At least he gets over it quickly.

Go Gophers?

Tressa gave us this outfit when Tyler was first born and he can finally wear it. He found the pants in his drawer Monday morning and insisted on wearing this outfit.

He then cried when I wouldn't let him wear the pants after he fell in the toilet with them on. That happend when I got him home in the afternoon. He tells me that he needs to go potty, but he wants to do it himself. Fine by me, the less I'm involved in the whole process the better. He needs me to turn on the bathroom light and then orders me back to the living room. I leave and a few seconds later, I hear screaming coming from the bathroom. I rush in there thinking that he slammed his hand in the toilet lid or something like that, only to find him with his little butt all the way inside the toilet and pretty much just his legs sticking out. I know I shouldn't have, but I couldn't keep myself from laughing. It was just too funny. He did not see the humor in the situation and was still crying when I pulled him out. After that he was too scared to go on the big potty and used his little potty instead. I still can't help but laugh whenever I picture it.

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling...

Deke is a little mover. He's starting to roll to get where he wants to go. The other day, he was across the living room from me and I was playing with Tyler on the floor. All of a sudden I felt something on my leg and looked down to see Deke grinning up at me. He can also get on his hands and knees, but only for a few seconds. Hopefully, he'll be crawling soon. Changing his diaper has become a real challenge. He rolls all over the place and I have a hard time getting him to lay still long enough to change him.

Dr. Pepper...just right

Tyler is getting really good at trying to reason his way into stuff. Today he decided he'd try to talk me into giving him Dr. Pepper. Yeah right, like that's going to happen. Here was the conversation:
Tyler: "But I'm thirsty..."
Me: "Then you can have apple juice, milk, or water."
Tyler: "but those will make me cold."
Me: "And dr. pepper won't?" (saracastic tone is starting to be used) "Well, then you can have hot chocolate."
Tyler: "But that's hot."
Me: "I suppose that Dr. pepper is just right, then."
Tyler: "yup."
Needless to say he didn't get the Dr. Pepper, no matter how good or sound his argument was. Earlier today, he tried to get out of cleaning his play doh by saying that "it would make him dirty" You've just been playing with it, I think its too late on the dirty argument.
He just cracks me up with some of the things he says.
