More Science Museum Photos

A few more photos from the museum.

It's been a long week. Deacon got a little sick on Friday and was fussier than normal. Plus he wasn't sleeping all that great and still isn't so the nights have been hard as well. Fortunately he does tend to just be fussy at home. I took both boys to Wal-mart with me this afternoon and didn't have any issues at all with either of them. Normally within 5 minutes, I'm questioning why I brought them both with me.

Cities Trip

Kaia, Tyler, and Deacon early Monday morning.
This one of only three almost complete Tricertops skeltons in the world! I thought that was pretty darn cool.

Enjoying some books at the muesum.

Last weekend, the boys and Joel got MLK day off. I had to take vacation but it was worth it. We went up to the Cities Sunday afternoon and got to spend a wonderful evening with our good friends, the Loos. Oh, boy have I missed them. Our kids play so well together that it is actually very relaxing to be there. We can let them just play on their own for like a whole 30 minutes or so without having to intervene or anything. That is just amazing to me. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are girls and they appear to have a calming effect on my boys...even the Dekemesiter.
I actually got to go shopping with Jenna on Sunday afternoon and we both scored some pretty good deals at Express. I was sorely tempted to buy some boots as well, but I resisted...barely.
The next morning we took the kids to the Natural History Muesum. Ty really wanted to see the dinosaurs and they were pretty awesome. This muesum had a lot of interactive stuff as well so it was really cool. I could see both of them really enjoying it when they are a little older and understand even more.

Snowboard Video

It's a good thing I make him wear his helmet. Seriously though he always makes his falls look worse than they are. I've seen him delibertly jump off and do a flip off the thing.

Sledding

I took the boys sledding today and we had a blast. Unfortunately I couldn't get a picture of Deke going down because he went down with me everytime. One time, I had both of my boys on the sled with me and that was a awesome. So would have loved to have gotten a picture of that. Ty decided he wanted to try some snowboarding as well and I was shocked at how well he is doing on this board. I wouldn't let him go down from the top of the hill because that just seems scary to me. So he would go halfway up and amazingly stay on almost all the way down. I got a video, but of course, when I decided to get the video was when he wasn't doing quite as good. There was a small ramp for sledders to jump off of on one part of the hill. I personally think that is just crazy, but of course, Ty had to ask me if he could go down it with his snowboard. The answer was no, but I'm pretty sure this one is going to give me quite a few gray hairs as he gets older.

Leave it to Tyler

Tonight, I felt like I should be starring in a 50's T.V. show. Ty was so willing to help with everything. He set the whole table by himself and when Daddy came home and asked me to pass the bread, Ty was quick to grab the plate and offer it to him and then said "would you also like some butter." As Joel thanked him, Ty then said: "I love you guys and I love helping." He also lead the prayer. I'll try to write what I remember. "Thank you God for Mommy, Daddy, Deacon, Java, and Manny. Thank you for the food. I bless you. Amen" Then Deacon had to say a prayer too and I so wish I had had the camera on me because seeing Deacon's sweet little hands folded in prayer and his head bowed was just such a cute mental picture. His prayer was "Thank you God. AMEN" And then he clapped his hands and grinned that super cute grin of his. They are just such amazing boys sometimes.

After dinner, I had Ty write his thank-you notes for the gifts he got for Christmas. I kind of thought I was going to have to coerce him to do these. He had 8 that he had to write out and that can be quite a lot for him. I wasn't asking for much and I didn't want to force him to do it because I want it to be something he wants to do, so all I was asking for was for him to sign his own name to the cards. He actually went above and beyond and wanted to write the "Thank you, Love Ty" part. He did all 8 on his own and then drew a picture for everyone as well. I know for some kids that's like a piece of cake, but for Ty to sit down that long and do that without any coercion was just amazing.

Really great evening tonight. Most evenings aren't quite that enjoyable so I figured I'd write this one down to look back on when reality decides to return. :)

Introducing...The Kelner Brothers

I heard the boys playing in Ty's room today. I could hear the piano going and Tyler screaming into the microphone. When I checked it out, this is what I saw. I just had to get a video. Tyler is singing "Hosanna, you are the God that saves us". Just in case you can't make it out. :)

Minotauraus

Ty got this game for Christmas and it is so much fun! Even I like this game. It's like the game Sorry, but way more fun. Ty was helping Deke play since it way above Deacon's level of understanding. Although Deke totally get the MINOTAURUS. Everytime a black was rolled he would yell "MINOTAURUS!" and growl. Too funny! I highly recommend it if you're looking fora great game to play with the kids.

A few things to remember

The boys are growing up so fast and I am so bad about keeping up a baby book which is why I have this blog, right? There are just a few things I want to be able to remember from this Christmas holiday and I'm going to write them down here so I don't forget them. Hopefully, the blog never goes down :)
1. Ty being super excited about Santa Claus coming. "Mom, you need to put us to be now!" "Do you hear something, I think I hear sleigh bells."
2. Deke trying to open the door so Santa could come in. He believed Ty when Ty said Santa was there.
3. Ty putting a christmas bow on me and saying: "You're my present this year." Yeah, I know he got it off that commercial, but it was still super cute.
4. Deke picking on Ty. "Who wants to bath first?" Ty: "Deacon does." Deke: "No, Tywer does." Tyler getting super mad about that and Deke just keeps grinning and saying "Tywer wants bath." Little stinker knew he was ticking his big bro off.
5. We decided to skip church this past Sunday because we figured the nursery wouldn't be running and first Sundays at our church are a little tough due to the mingling of Sunday School classrooms first thing. This just doesn't work with an active 2-1/2 year old. So we did our own bible study at home. Ty said "I want to learn more about Jesus." and after every chapter I read in Matthew, he would say. "I want to learn more." We ended up having a very good discussion and now one of my resolutions for this year is to have a bible study a few times a week as a family. It's a bit tough with Deke, but hopefully if we stick it out, it'll get easier.

That's it for now. Just wanted to get these written down, before I forgot them.
